Where to watch the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight?
(Screen captures from Showtime Sports/ Sun Star Blog)
The battle of epic proportions between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. is only a week away! Everything is set for the so-called “Fight of the century”: both fighters are in tip-top shape, Pacquiao has produced a new music video, and Mayweather is even selling a new shirt.
Despite the astronomical prices and delays in the release of the tickets, seats were gone in 60 seconds. Current prices in the secondary market are fetching more than $100,000 for ringside seats.
For millions of Filipinos though, the chance see the fight of the century in person is simply a pipe dream. But just because we can’t see it in the flesh does not mean you’re short for options on where to watch it.
For those that want to stay at home, SkyCable is offering the fight on commercial-free pay-per-view for Php 2,500. This option is great if A) you have a cable subscription, B) have a nice TV, and C) there’s enough people in your household to split the cost of the purchase. For those that don’t quite have all those boxes checked, however, going out and seeing it in person at another venue might just make more sense.
Lists on where to watch the fight have been published by numerous sites and blogs, but one list we found truly separates itself from the pack.
This blog hosted by the Sun Star Philippines presents what is so far the most comprehensive list of all the places where one can watch the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight live. And for those that gripe about how news coverage is always Metro Manila-centric, they even take it a step further by providing lists from across major cities in the Philippines. Cebu, Davao, Palawan — it’s all neatly arranged in this easy-to-access Google Document. The venues cover the entire spectrum from free government-provided screenings to restaurant and hotel packages.
If you’re still searching for where you and your friends and family can watch, this list might just be what you need.
