It may be October, and for most students, that means Bar exam season. But for academics and students not involved with law school, board exams for other disciplines are also held throughout the year.  One group that has taken a proactive step toward exam preparation are the chemical engineering students from the University of the Philippines.

The UP Academic League of Chemical Engineering Students (ALCHEMES) is holding the fourth iteration of its ChEckBoard program, a seminar and job fair aimed at helping chemical engineering students prepare for the board exam.

What was originally a two-hour seminar in 2011 for a select group of board exam takers has now grown into a day-long event that includes participants from all over the Philippines. ChEckboard even includes company booths from the top corporations in the Philippines, helping to serve as a glimpse into life after school.

Speakers include recent topnotchers and current members of the PRC Board of Chemical Engineering. From basic pointers on what to expect during the exam, the speakers also share other essential tips on how to navigate a career in their fields.
